Dargan Long

Pentagon Portrait

A portrait of the former Secretary of the Army, Francis J. Harvey was officially unveiled October 22, 2008.  The painting, by world renowned artist Everett Raymond Kinstler, of New York City, hangs in The Hall of Heroes at the Pentagon.  During his term, Secretary Harvey was responsible for boosting recruitment by 150% with policies that produced the advertising campaign "Army Strong".

Everett Raymond Kinstler has painted six United States Presidents. Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton have posed for the artist.  Presidents Ford and Reagan's portraits are the official White House portraits.

Mr. Kinstler has painted over sixty cabinet officers, more than any artist in our country's history. The National Portrait Gallery owns one hundred of his originals.

Mr. Kinstler has also painted celebrity portraits of Tony Bennett, Katharine Hepburn, Mary Tyler Moore, Paul Newman and John Wayne.
